TRUE TREASURE(MATTHEW 13:44-46)

(마 13:44) 천국은 마치 밭에 감추인 보화와 같으니 사람이 이를 발견한 후 숨겨 두고 기뻐하며 돌아가서 자기의 소유를 다 팔아 그 밭을 사느니라//Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

(마 13:45) 또 천국은 마치 좋은 진주를 구하는 장사와 같으니//Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

(마 13:46) 극히 값진 진주 하나를 발견하매 가서 자기의 소유를 다 팔아 그 진주를 사느니라//Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

James threw a long rope with a powerful magnet tied to it into the waters of a New York lake. The “magnet fisher” was stunned when he pulled out a grimy safe filled with stacks of muddy one-hundred-dollar bills. Police said James could keep the money since it wasn’t linked to a crime. Some of the bills were in such poor condition they couldn’t be authenticated, though he hoped to salvage as much of the money as possible to perhaps buy a home.

제임스는 밧줄의 한쪽 끝에 강한 자석을 묶어 뉴욕의 한 호수에 던졌다. 그 “자석 낚시꾼”은 진흙투성이의 백 달러 지폐가 다발로 가득 찬 지저분한 금고를 건져올리고는 깜짝 놀랐다. 경찰은 그 돈이 범죄에 연루되지 않았기 때문에 제임스가 가져도 된다고 말했다. 지폐 중 일부는 상태가 너무 안 좋아서 진위 여부를 확인할 수 없었지만, 그는 집을 사는 데 보태기 위해 가능한 한 많은 돈을 복원하고 싶었다.

Finding hidden treasure is exciting, and Jesus told a parable about a man who did just that: “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field” (MATTHEW 13:44). The man recognized the value of the treasure he’d found and was willing to sell all his possessions to purchase the field.

숨겨진 보화를 찾는 것은 흥미진진한 일이고 예수님도 이와 비슷한 예화를 들려주셨다. “천국은 마치 밭에 감추인 보화와 같으니 사람이 이를 발견한 후 숨겨 두고 기뻐하며 돌아가서 자기의 소유를 다 팔아 그 밭을 사느니라” (마태복음 13:44). 이 사람은 그가 발견한 보화의 가치를 알기 때문에 자신의 소유를 모두 팔아 그 밭을 사려고 했다.

As we consider that parable, no amount of wealth or possessions could pay the debt we owe for our sins. Only Jesus could pay the incredible price to redeem us and to reconcile us with His Father, through His sacrificial death and resurrection.

이 비유와 관련해 생각해보면, 세상의 어떤 재물이나 소유로도 우리의 죄 값을 치를 수는 없다. 오직 예수님의 대신 죽으심과 부활하심만이 우리를 구원하고 하나님 아버지와 화목하게 하는 그 엄청난 값을 치를 수 있다.

Earthly treasures may be nice, but they can be lost, stolen, or destroyed. We can gratefully accept Jesus’ supreme sacrifice for us and His free gift of eternal life, knowing that living in heaven with Him is our great reward. NANCY GAVILANES

세상의 보화들도 좋지만, 그것들은 잃어버리고 빼앗기고 망가질 수 있다. 우리는 예수님께서 우리를 위해 치르신 지고한 희생과 값없이 주신 영생이라는 선물을 감사함으로 받을 수 있으며, 그분과 함께 천국에서 사는 것이 우리의 가장 큰 상급임을 안다.

Why is Jesus so precious to you? Why are you willing to let go of your old life to spend eternity with Him?

예수님이 왜 당신에게 그토록 소중합니까? 지난 날의 삶을 내려놓고 예수님과 영생을 누리기 원하는 이유는 무엇인가요?

Dear Jesus, thank You for giving me the true treasure of heaven when I placed my faith and trust in You.//사랑하는 예수님, 제가 주님을 믿고 신뢰할 때 천국의 참된 보화를 주신 것을 감사합니다. 그 보화의 가치를 알 수 있는 은혜를 주신 것을 감사합니다. 값으로 매길 수 없다는 것의 의미는 1 다음에 붙는 0의 숫자가 늘어남에 따라 흔들릴 수 있는 마음이 아니라 무한개의 0과도 바꿀 수 없는 참된 가치임을 알기에 나의 전부를 드려 주님을 영접합니다. 매일의 삶 가운데 그런 예수님을 보내주신 하나님의 임재를 구하며 성령의 도우심으로 살아가게 하소서. 약간의 육신의 불편함이 그 가치에 전혀 흠집을 내지 않는 일이 되게 하소서. 한 걸음 한 걸음 내디딜 때마다 주님과 동행하는 나의 발걸음이 되게 하소서.

SCRIPTURE INSIGHT(성경 통찰)

The two parables in Matthew 13:44-46 appear amid the telling of several parables on the kingdom of heaven (vv. 1-52). After Jesus told the first parable of the sower (vv. 3-9), His disciples asked why He always spoke in parables (v. 10). His answer was telling: “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them” (v. 11). He told the disciples, “Blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear” (v. 16). Then He explained the parable (vv. 18-23). The disciples desired to know the true meaning of Christ’s words, and their desire was rewarded. They’d left everything to follow Him. In essence, they were living out the parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl (vv. 44-46). They’d found the true treasure because they were receptive to the gospel. When we place our faith in Jesus, we receive the free gift of eternal life with Him—the true treasure of heaven.

마태복음 13:44–46에 나오는 두 비유는 천국에 관한 여러 비유(1–52절) 가운데 등장합니다. 예수님께서 먼저 씨 뿌리는 자의 비유(3–9절)를 말씀하신 후, 제자들은 왜 항상 비유로 말씀하시는지 여쭈었습니다(10절). 예수님의 대답은 의미심장했습니다. “천국의 비밀을 아는 것이 너희에게는 허락되었으나 그들에게는 아니되었나니”(11절). 예수님은 제자들에게 “너희 눈은 봄으로, 너희 귀는 들음으로 복이 있도다”(16절)라고 말씀하셨습니다. 그리고 그 비유를 설명해 주셨습니다(18–23절). 제자들은 그리스도의 말씀에 담긴 참된 의미를 알고 싶어 했고, 그들의 열망은 보상을 받았습니다. 그들은 모든 것을 버리고 예수님을 따랐습니다. 본질적으로 그들은 감추인 보화와 진주의 비유(44–46절)를 삶으로 실천하고 있었습니다. 그들이 참된 보화를 발견할 수 있었던 것은 복음을 받아들이는 마음이 있었기 때문입니다. 우리가 예수님을 믿을 때, 우리는 그분과 함께하는 영생이라는 값없이 주시는 선물, 곧 하늘의 참된 보화를 받습니다.
